The restaurant has roots going back to the early 20th century. In recent years they are known for "Big Windy" the wind turbine in the rear of their property. The restaurant is almost entirely on green energy.This has been a "go-to" of ours for years; it started as a special occasion restaurant but the prices are reasonable that we work it in a few times a year. Sandwiches and burgers start at $14, entrées at $16. The Mustard Crusted Bass is excellent and a local favorite. My mother in-law prefers the Ribs.They are also known for their Baked French Onion soup with croutons and melted mozzarella, and Lobster Bisque.

Great dinner out the night before our flight. We were at a hotel in the area and found this place online. Has a great old school vibe. Very clean, friendly waitress, good portion size. Husband had broasted chicken and raved about it. I had a chopped salad with chicken. Tasty vinergrette dressing. Will definitely come again when in the area. Also had a very tasty and strong margarita! Only 5.99 and NOT a mix!

This was my fifth time dining at The Great Escape and the first time for my two friends who I invited out to dinner. The decore & atmosphere is very nice. Dress is very casual to business casual. The menu is extensive. For dessert, my friends shared a chocolate molent lava cake w ice cream & whipped cream, I had a brownie with caramel sauce, ice cream & whipped cream. We shared the beignets. The duck and roasted chicken were both well seasoned, tender, and properly cooked. The duck dressing/stuffing was simply prepared and amazingly delicious. The pasta appeared to be fresh, and the sauce was obviously homemade and not acidic. Our waitress was very patient and courteous w us. She also had to cover the bar, which explained why we occasionally had a different waitress check up on us. We all agreed that we highly recommend The Great Escape and would definitely make a return visit.
